Sony invests on Chinese entertainment platform Bilibili

Sony Corporation announces that its American subsidiary, Sony Corporation of America, has invested in Chinese company Bilibili Inc. The global tech brand now carries a total of 4.98% of Bilibili’s shares for USD 400 million.

Bilibili is a Shanghai-based online platform focusing on video-sharing of anime, comics, and games, as well as content creation, established ten years ago. As an interactive platform, it lets users submit, view, and add commentary subtitles on videos. It also offers live streaming services and ACG-themed mobile games.  Apart from its website, it has attracted a strong following from its mobile app. The majority of its users are from Generation Z.

Apart from investing in the Chinese online video distribution platform, Sony also partners with Bilibili to explore opportunities in animation and mobile game development in China.
