When you want to transfer heavy files from one PC to another or simply want the convenience of bringing those files with you during your travels or daily commute, the solution is to use an external hard drive. You don’t have to break the bank to have one, though, as you can purchase good ones for under Php5K. Here are our top picks.
The first one on our list and the most affordable is the ADATA HD720. What separates this from the rest of the HDDs in the list is its IP68-certified and shock-resistant body. Meaning it can withstand dust, water (up to 2m for up to 120mins) and drops. Aside from its 1TB capacity, it has a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface and comes in Black, Blue, and Green colors.
The ADATA HD720 1TB is available at Lazada for Php3,025USD 52INR 4,370EUR 49CNY 375. See listing here.
Next is Apacer’s AC233. It features a 1TB capacity, supports USB 3.0 interface, and boasts a streamlined curve design with dual-color LED light and smart power management.
The Apacer AC233 1TB is available at Villman for Php3,599USD 61INR 5,199EUR 58CNY 447. See listing here.
Moving up the Php4K range is the Western Digital My Passport Ultra. It might be more expensive, but it offers twice the capacity at 2TB for under Php5K. It boasts a slim design, supports USB 3.0, and features automatic backup and Cloud backup via Dropbox.
The Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB is available at PC Express for Php4,500USD 77INR 6,501EUR 73CNY 558. See listing here.
Add Php250USD 4INR 361EUR 4CNY 31 and you can go for the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB. Like the WD My Passport Ultra, it also has a slim design with USB 3.0 interface. It is also offering buyers 200GB of free OneDrive cloud storage for 2 years upon registration.
The Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB is available at PC Express for Php4,750USD 81INR 6,862EUR 77CNY 589. See listing here.
Last but not the least, is the StoreJet 25H3 2TB from Transcend. It’s the most costly in the list a three-stage shock protection system that meets U.S. military drop-test standards. It has a One-Touch Auto-Backup button, USB 3.0 interface, and 256-bit AES file and folder encryption. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have water-resistance like the ADATA HD720.
The Transcend StoreJet 25H3 2TB is available at Lazada for Php4,795USD 82INR 6,927EUR 78CNY 595. See listing here.

WD My Passport Ultra 1tb has a life span of 1yr(atleast thats why i think). it would function well without hiccups for 1yr. i own a WD My Passport Ultra 1tb and after a year its no longer functioning properly, doesnt exceed a read/write speed of over 50mb/s.(can be lower i think it doesnt even reach 30mb/s even though its connected to a USB 3.0)
