Asus Philippines will finally launch the newer edition of its Eee PC series this week. After last month’s launching at Computex in Taiwan, Asus is bringing here the 10-inch Eee PC 1000.
From the Asus website, looks like they’d be coming out with 6 shiny colors of the Asus Eee PC — Red, Green, Black, Peony White, Pearl White and Fine Ebony.
Specs include:
10″ screen at 1280 × 720 screen resolution
Intel Atom 1.6GHz
WiFi 802.11n
Bluetooth 2.0
1 – 2 GB DDR RAM
1.3 MP webcam
20GB – 40GB SSD drive
Hi-definition Audio
6-cell battery (4.2 – 8 hrs)
1.33 kg
Windows XP or GNU Linux OS
95% of standard notebook keyboard size
The suggested retail price will be somewhere in the vicinity of Php29,990. This is not final yet and will have to re-confirm this at the July 29 launch.
Other models released earlier in Taiwan but will not be available locally are the Asus Eee PC 1000H, 1000HD, 901 and 904HD.

Well said, finally a good report on this stuff
I looked around PC shops today; they’re selling the 1GB RAM, 160 HDD specs for P23,500…
In Singapore, most of them are going for 700 SGD (22k PHP) but with local warranty.
Does anyone know where I can get this for a lower price with warranty? Thanks…
So what’s the final retail price?
what would you prefer the asus eee pc 1000 or msi wind?

the one who posted above…that’s also my question.after jurassic years, still, no one care to answer!hahaha :D
urgh. its really mind buggling. can’t decide which one is better. the asus eeepc 1000h or the msi wind. msi wind is very tempting having that great elegant looks, and that undeniably awesome specs i couldn’t resist. imagine 2GB MEMORY and 320GB storage, more expensive though compared to the 1000H. but the 1000h is more affordable and has more battery life than the msi wind.
other than these things, which has better performance, durability, and efficiency? can anyone help?
Yet another version of Asus Eee PC. Saving…
@ 1knife – looks like the Gigabyte M912 will be sold here locally. i’m hoping it pushes though
so, does it mean…the MSI Wind would be a smarter choice than the Asus Eee Pc 1000? I don’t care how much would be the price. still, performance wise… ;)
any idea when the Gigabyte M912V will be out locally? reviews anyone?
I would say the very steep price of the SSD makes the hard disk a much better choice. I’ve been holding off buying the MSI Wind myself. I hope they release a hard disk-fitted eeePC 1000 here in the Philippines.
The MSI Wind wins in the price department.
tempting….
asus eee pc 1000 or msi wind? i’m planning to buy one soon… please help me decide. calling all tech freaks out there! ;)
will this be much better than msi wind? considering this one got the sdd which does not with the msi wind.but the msi wind got a lower price though.
You mean we won’t be having a hard disk version locally?
