Asus EeePC 1201PN w/ nVidia Ion 2 gets priced

Listen to article

Asus continues to churn out more iterations of its 12-inch Eee PC line with the 1201PN sporting an nVidia Ion 2 chip. This model has been spotted in local stores selling for about Php28,900.

And when you thought that this could really be an upgrade to the 1201N, you’d be surprised with the CPU they paired it with.

Asus Eee PC 1201PN
12.1″ display @ 1366×768 pixels
Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66GHz
nVidia Ion 2 512MB
2GB DDR2 RAM
250GB HDD
WiFi 802.11b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1 (optinal)
HDMI port
3 USB 2.0 ports
SD card slot
0.3MP webcam
6-cell battery

Comes pre-installed with Windows 7 Starter Edition. Since the N450 has a built-in Intel GMA 3150 graphics, I’m not sure if this unit can switch graphics between the Intel and nVidia.

For the suggested retail price of Php28,900, I think the Eee PC 1201N (Php26,995) is a better deal considering it’s got a dual-core N330 CPU.

I think the Asus EeePC 1215N will be better in terms of battery life compared to the 1201N model.

The old Asus EeePC 1201N is using the “desktop” version of the dual core Atom which is not very good in terms of battery life. The 1215N will be using the “mobile” version of the dual core Atom (N550)and have a higher speed as well at 1.5GHz.

Overall Asus EeePC 1215N would be the one to wait for since it has ION2 graphics and Nvidia Optimus support. The big question though is how much will the 1215N cost when it becomes available here :)

Might take a look at this one. The longer battery life is definitely a plus for this netbook. :)

@kyle – plugging much? haha

Yes i think this is the one with the better graphics card than the 1201N. :) Might explain the higher price. although battery life is longer due to the reduction of 1 core like what Paul said above^. :)

Yep, 1215N is better in terms of raw tech specs.

However it uses a dual core CPU and it has the same battery as the 1201N which lasts for around 3-4 hours… the 1201PN lasts quite a bit longer at 6 hours.

for that price, I am starting to like 14 inch notebooks with real adult processors like core i3

29k php for an Atom is crazy, no matter what funky GPU thingy they stick in it.

almost 29k? wow! I could get a 14′ core i3 laptop with this price. But if the priority is the 12′ size then this would be good however I still think its a bit pricey at Php28,900.

nice specs but not sure if this is a typo..

0.3MP webcam? I wonder how’s the resolution of the video/images. :)

and yes Eee PC 1201N is a much better deal and cheaper too. :)

Pretty nice netbook, but my msi windu230 is still the best netbook around when it comes to price and functionality, It’s out in the market for a couple of months now. You can get it at 22k

Sup Sir Yuga!

Random question:

What do you think of Sony Vaio E-series VPCEA21EG/BI?

here’s the link of the specs and stuff:

http://www.sony.com.ph/product/vpcea21eg

it runs on Intel® Pentium® Processor P6000 (1.86GHz) CPU, do you think this is worth it? Is this CPU good for MMORPG type of games? Thanks a lot. Coz im thinking of getting one

Rock on!

@jp – my guess is that it will be similar to that of the HP Mini 311 — around 3-4 hours.

Wow!

Any idea on the battery of life this unit, Abe?

BTW, Joulemeter can now be downloaded from Microsoft.

The one in the pic is the 1201T but all the 1201’s have the same built, minus the stickers.

this is not the actual unit right? the red sticker on the left side of the palm rest looks like the one for AMD platforms
