Intel Core X-series processor family specs officially unveiled

Yesterday, Intel released the specifications for the 12- to 18-core processors: Intel® Core™ i9-7920X, Intel Core i9-7940X, Intel Core i9-7960X and the Extreme Edition Intel Core i9-7980XE.

The 18-core i9-7980XE will have a base clock speed of 2.6GHz. With the use of Turbo Boost 2.0, it will be be clocked at 4.2GHz and 4.4GHz for Turbo Boost Max 3.0. The rest of the of the X-series family will feature a base clock speeds between 2.8GHz and 4.4GHz.

The 4-to 10-core Intel Core X-series processors are already available while the 12-core version will hit the stores starting August 28, and the 14- to 18-core i9 CPUs will be on September 25.
