Someone asked me why I’d always want to go to the zoo whenever I visit a country. Aside from testing my photography skills (or the lack thereof) for wild animal shoots, I wittingly replied “Show me your country’s best zoo and I will tell you how well-fed your people are“. Just look at how the Manila zoo tigers are so skinny.

Here are some of the shots I got using my Canon Rebel XT with the Sigma 70-300mm APO DG-Macro. The animals are between 10 to 20 meters away so a telephoto lens is a must here.

The Singapore Zoo is indeed one of the biggest and most beautiful zoo in the world. The shot of the flowers and the lake (Singapore’s water reservoir) was taken using the Canon 10-22mm.

The zoo is about 15 minutes by taxi from the city center (we stayed at the Geylang area) and costs about SG$15. Entrance fee is $15 with optional $5 for a ride-all-you-can tram.

Hello! Do you know if they make any plugins to safeguard against hackers?
I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve
worked hard on. Any recommendations?

For a mopment there I thought you meant the Animal Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World in Florida, USA. If anyone is looking for great deals in Orlando or Kissimmee, Florida USA try
http://www.Orlando.us which frequently runs some. Nice photos.

Manila Zoo is not the Philippines’ best zoo.

“Show me your country’s best zoo and I will tell you how well-fed your people are“

I agree with Tina… Go to Avilon Zoo

Still… are Filipinos well-fed?

Nice shots!

Wow! Pwedeng pang-postcard! You can have an alternative career in photography!

First time for me to leave comment on your blog. Wala kasi akong masabing techy.

Now I get what your nick is (after reading your ‘About’). Am also Ilonggo so I know exactly what it means. My dad used to go “Yu di puga!” (or something like that…) :-)

Got you linked up to my site already!

Ahh, tigers! I always make it a point to see the tigers in any zoo I visit. I can’t wait to go to Zoobic tuloy.

Yes, you should visit Avilon Zoo in Montalban. They have a wide selection of animals and they’re all under good care. :)

You *must* go to Avilon Zoo in Montalban or see the aviary at MMLDC in Antipolo or Eden Nature Park in Davao. You just might change your mind re: zoos and being how well-fed the people are. Cheers! :)

Heh. Looks like the animals didn’t feel like doing a superman and mauled you :P

Love the tigers. Taba!!! And they’re fat even if nakaharap syo hehehe unlike ours in Manila Zoo… Side view, looks ok. But once it faces you, ang NIPIS! Well, you gotta hand it to our zoo… we’re good with optical illusions! :D

Abe,

How much does it cost to have a 70 to 300 mm lens?
