#2026 video game releases

Along with a special 25th anniversary Xbox console, Microsoft unveiled a wave of new games, hardware and updates during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. Despite ending disc production for future releases, Sony said players will still be able to purchase new games through the PlayStation Store or participating retailers that sell digital game codes. Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup for July 2026. PlayStation Plus members can claim all three games from July 7 through August 3, 2026. Senator Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV has rejected calls for a blanket ban on video games following the deadly shooting at a high school in Tacloban City, saying there is no proven link between video games and school violence. Aquino, who chairs the Senate Committees on Basic Education and Science and Technology, said many studies have found no direct connection between playing video games and incidents of school shootings. He said video games have existed for nearly 50 years and are often blamed whenever violent incidents happen. Instead of banning video games, Aquino urged lawmakers to prioritize the proposed School Safety Act.
