Qualcomm unveiled a new 8-core Snapdragon X Plus processor at IFA 2024 in Berlin. The new processor has the same architecture as the 12-core Snapdragon X Elite and 10-core Snapdragon X Plus. The 8-core Snapdragon X Plus offers less CPU cache and less than half the GPU power for gaming and productivity apps. Oddly enough, it offers the same productivity performance as the 10-core Snapdragon X Plus processors. Overall, the new Snapdragon X Plus option is key to driving down laptop prices further. On board, it uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and OnePlus says it brings noticeable speed gains over the last generation.
