YouTube has started rolling out more visible labels for AI-generated and AI-edited videos as part of its push for better transparency on the platform. Starting today, videos uploaded to YouTube that are significantly changed or created using AI tools will now show a more noticeable label. For long-form videos, the label will appear below the video player and above the description section. The company said creators are still mainly responsible for marking their videos if AI tools were used. However, YouTube now also uses its own detection system to help identify AI-generated content, even if creators do not manually tag them. If creators believe their videos were incorrectly labeled, they can update the disclosure settings through YouTube Studio. According to YouTube, the new labels will not affect how videos are recommended to viewers or how creators earn money from their content. The company said the update is meant to give viewers more information about what they are watching as AI-generated content becomes more common online.
