YouTube has started rolling out more visible labels for AI-generated and AI-edited videos as part of its push for better transparency on the platform. Starting today, videos uploaded to YouTube that are significantly changed or created using AI tools will now show a more noticeable label. For long-form videos, the label will appear below the video player and above the description section. The company said creators are still mainly responsible for marking their videos if AI tools were used. If creators believe their videos were incorrectly labeled, they can update the disclosure settings through YouTube Studio. According to YouTube, the new labels will not affect how videos are recommended to viewers or how creators earn money from their content. Because of these, Facebook now puts a cover over potentially-graphic videos that warns the user of its nature and asks for consent before it plays. This safety measure also disables those videos from auto-playing (a feature they rolled out previously).
