Google is rolling out a new update to its Clock app for Android that lets users dismiss alarms by swiping on the screen. Once the feature is available, users will see a prompt explaining that alarms can now be dismissed by either tapping or swiping. A new setting called “Dismiss alarm with a” appears in the app’s settings, giving users the choice between Tap or Swipe. Previously, alarms could only be stopped using large tap buttons. With the new swipe option, “Snooze” appears on the left and “Stop” on the right, with guide animations to show how the gesture works. Google says the change adds a small amount of friction, which may help prevent users from stopping alarms too easily while half asleep. The swipe gesture is similar to changes Google made last year in the Phone app, where users also had to swipe to answer or reject incoming calls. The update is being rolled out gradually and may not appear on all devices at the same time.
