A multi-year deal between AMD and Meta has been revealed to expand Meta's AI infrastructure with up to 6 gigawatts of AMD Instinct GPUs. The system will operate through custom-built AMD Instinct MI450 GPUs which work together with 6th Generation AMD EPYC Venice and future Verano processors. Meta's MTIA accelerator program will use AMD ROCm software to enhance both performance and efficiency. OpenAI has announced a long-term partnership with AMD to power its next-generation AI systems using AMD’s Instinct GPUs. The agreement covers up to 6 gigawatts of compute capacity, with the first 1-gigawatt deployment of AMD Instinct MI450 GPUs scheduled for the second half of 2026. Under the deal, AMD becomes a key compute partner for OpenAI, supporting large-scale AI deployments and future GPU generations. As part of the agreement, AMD granted OpenAI a warrant for up to 160 million shares of its common stock, with vesting tied to specific technical and commercial milestones as deployments expand to 6 gigawatts. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman added that AMD’s chips will help accelerate AI development and deliver better tools globally.
