This shift necessitates more frequent rebasing of the project and may lead to the deprecation of support for some older devices before the next major version is released. LineageOS 21 remains available for devices not yet supported by 22.1, but support for version 20 is being phased out. This release underscores LineageOS’s commitment to providing extended software support and new features to a wide range of devices, ensuring that users can continue to enjoy an up-to-date Android experience on their older smartphones. Apple has released iOS 12.5.8 to keep key services like iMessage, FaceTime, and device activation working on older Apple devices that can no longer upgrade to newer versions of iOS. Apple confirmed the change in its release notes, saying the update ensures continued access to these services on supported older devices. iOS 12.5.8 and iPadOS 12.5.8 are available for a limited list of devices, including the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and the sixth-generation iPod touch.
