The new Mac lineup is now powered with the M1 chip, Apple's first system on chip (SoC) designed for Mac. Last June, Apple announced that it is recalling select 15-inch MacBook Pro models due to an overheating battery issue. The FAA stated that it was "aware of the recalled batteries that are used in some Apple MacBook Pro laptops." According to airline safety guidelines issued in 2016, consumer electronics with recalled batteries are not allowed on flights as cargo or carry-on luggage.
