The Philippines now has an average internet speed of 3.2Mbps, according to the recently-released State of the Internet Connectivity Report from global cloud Enterprise Akamai for Q4 2015. High-speed broadband subscription also increased, as household with over 4Mbps subscriptions recorded an additional 18%, while Filipinos with internet speeds over 10Mbps now take up a smaller 1.8% of the total count. Our average speed puts us at 107th ranking globally in Akamai's Q4 2015 list. Fellow Asian country South Korea still tops the global list at 26.7Mbps average speed, followed by Sweden and Norway with megabyte per second speeds 19.1 and 18.8, respectively. While our national broadband average is still nowhere near that of Singapore or Hong Kong, broadband and mobile internet speeds have significantly improved in the last few years. Why stability matters more than Mbps The pivot from speed to stability is rooted in how Filipinos actually use the internet. Microsoft has quietly introduced a new internet speed test feature in Windows 11, giving users a quicker way to check their connection directly from the taskbar. Beyond measuring internet speed, the page also includes additional tools such as a stopwatch, timer, typing test, and QR code generator, turning it into a lightweight utility hub.
