Apple is close to making a deal to pay Google about $1 billion every year to use Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence model to improve Siri, according to a report from Bloomberg. The report says Apple’s current technology is not yet strong enough to handle the big features it wants to add to Siri. Some Android phones running China-specific firmware recently lost access to Google Wallet contactless payments after updating to Google Play Services 26.28, according to reports from users and Android communities. The issue was reported on China-ROM devices from brands including Xiaomi, vivo, OPPO, OnePlus, and Honor. Reports linked the problem to Google Play Services version 26.28.33, which began appearing in late July. More importantly, users began reporting on August 2 and 3 that Google Wallet contactless payments had started working again, including on devices that received no manual changes.
