Rakuten Viber has partnered with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT-powered features directly into the Viber app for users in the Philippines. Through the integration, Viber users can now access ChatGPT tools without leaving the messaging app. One of the main additions is a dedicated ChatGPT in Viber contact and tab, which lets users ask questions, get help with tasks, brainstorm ideas, or search for information directly within the app. Users do not need a ChatGPT account to start using the feature, although they can log in or create one to connect their account and access higher usage limits. Viber is also adding the ability to tag ChatGPT in private and group conversations. By typing “@” and selecting ChatGPT, users can ask the assistant for suggestions or answers inside an ongoing chat. Viber said only the specific message addressed to ChatGPT is shared for processing, not the rest of the conversation. The partnership also introduces several other ChatGPT-powered tools inside Viber.
