In a report by ABS-CBN, China Telecom's fate in the country was revealed during a Senate hearing on proposals to revise foreign ownership restrictions in public. According to DICT Undersecretary and OIC of DICT, Eliseo Rio Jr., If China Telecom were to partner with either of the two dominant Telco's then they would have to surrender the frequencies allocated for the third player. Although China Telecom isn't the only company willing to usher in a third telecommunications firm, PT&T and TierOne have also expressed interest.
