DOTr also believes that the use of QR technology for electronic ticketing on the EDSA Busway is still one viable option for commuters. The department also acknowledges the proposals from other automatic fare collection system (AFCs) providers, as much as their systems are ready for integration, and will not put additional charge to commuters. Starting October 1, commuters will not be allowed to go onboard without beep cards. In line with this new policy, LTFRB encourages commuters to purchase and load their own beep cards to avoid inconveniences upon the implementation of the automated fare collection system. “We want to ensure that commuters along EDSA will have a safer and comfortable travel, while at the same time providing them a more seamless and efficient system of public transport,” said Pastor.
