Insta360 has confirmed a new product launch happening on August 21, teasing it with the tagline “Be There | Be Square.” While not officially named, all signs point to a new square-shaped action camera, possibly a major redesign following the Go 3 and Go 3S. Canon may be preparing to enter the pocket gimbal camera segment, based on a newly published patent that outlines a compact, stabilized handheld device aimed at content creators. The patent describes a compact camera with an integrated three-axis gimbal, a fixed lens, and a built-in screen housed within a handheld grip. DJI recently updated its Osmo Pocket lineup, while other brands are also exploring compact, creator-focused camera systems. Canon’s potential entry could bring its imaging expertise and color science into a space currently led by action camera and drone-focused companies. The grip remains deep and comfortable enough for long shooting, and despite adding active cooling, the camera remains compact enough to fit comfortably into most camera bags and gimbal setups. DJI’s Osmo Pocket series has long been one of the most popular options for creators looking for a compact camera with built-in stabilization. While it retains the familiar compact form factor, it introduces a dual-camera system, an extended hybrid zoom range, improved tracking features, and new accessories designed to expand shooting versatility.
