Corning has officially announced their newest glass protection, aptly named Gorilla Glass 6. The new Gorilla Glass will be replacing the widely-used Gorilla Glass 5. According to Corning, Gorilla Glass 6 is twice as tough as the previous GG5, thanks to its added resistance and durability to drops. The manufacturer is claiming that the new Gorilla Glass 6 has survived 15 consecutive drops from a 1-meter hight on rough surfaces and has better survivability at higher heights. Corning provided a promotional video (link here) where they demoed the drop tests they did with GG6. Corning has unveiled the newest glass protection for affordable smartphones: the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. According to Corning, the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i is made to cater to budget-friendly smartphones. It is said that the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i has handled up to one meter drops on surfaces similar to asphalt. The company also stated that the Gorilla Glass 7i is twice more scratch resistant than other lithium aluminosilicate cover glasses.
