Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that all new PlayStation games released from January 2028 onward will be available only in digital format, ending the production of physical disc editions for future titles. The company said the change will apply only to new games launching from January 2028. Games released before that date will continue to be available on disc, and existing physical copies will remain unaffected. The company said downloadable versions have significantly outpaced physical discs in recent years, prompting the shift to digital-only releases. Despite ending disc production for future releases, Sony said players will still be able to purchase new games through the PlayStation Store or participating retailers that sell digital game codes. The company added that it remains committed to giving players different ways to access games while continuing to improve its digital services. For the past couple of weeks, I've been spending like 4 to 6 hours on average everyday playing a couple of PC games. I only stick to one or two games though so I don't think I'm a heavy gamer.
