In a memo dated May 18, 2022, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is urging Local Government Units (LGU) to enact an ordinance that prescribes the installation of CCTV Systems as a requirement in the issuance of business permits. The DILG is also requiring establishments covered to strictly comply with the National Privacy Commission's (NPC) guidelines on the use of CCTV Systems as detailed in NPC Advisory No. The measure seeks to improve campus security through the installation of additional CCTV cameras, deployment of more barangay and security personnel, and regular Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings focused on school safety and violence prevention.
