Google Wallet adds Package Tracking via Gmail Receipts

Listen to article

Google is testing a new Google Wallet feature that automatically tracks delivery packages using Gmail receipts in the United States.

By scanning the shipping confirmations and those tracking numbers inside Gmail, the app sort of shows upcoming deliveries next to users’ payment methods, for easier, quick access or whatever. When you tap on a package, you get more detailed tracking data, and once something is delivered, it can be dismissed manually or cleaned up on its own after some time.

This feature doesn’t change or edit any package-related emails in Gmail at all. Users also have to turn on Google Workspace smart features. It works with most big retailers, but support can vary with smaller shops and those kinds of places. The update basically broadens Google Wallet past just payments by including built in parcel tracking.
