#DOTr cashless payment LRT

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is introducing cashless payments for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT). DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said that the open-loop payment system aligns with modern transit technologies used worldwide. To reiterate, the first phase of the cashless payments rollout will start next month. The feature joins existing cashless payment options on LRT-2 which include mobile NFC payments and GCash Commute QR. With Mastercard contactless payments now available on LRT-2, we're making everyday travel more seamless and secure, helping commuters save time and move through their journeys with greater confidence," said Jason Crasto, Mastercard’s Country Manager for the Philippines. Pasig Mega Market now has satellite-powered internet to support cashless payments under the Paleng-QR Ph Plus program of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Department of Information and Communications Technology. The rollout is part of the Paleng-QR Ph Plus program, a joint effort of BSP and DICT to promote the use of QR Ph, the country’s standard system for cashless payments.
