#DOTr fare system

Several companies, including GCash, Visa, and Mastercard, have shown interest in the Philippine government’s plan to create a single fare payment system for trains and other transport. The project is called the Philippine Automated Fare Collection System (PAFCS) and is expected to be bid out by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) before the end of the year. The DOTr said it wants a system that is connected and easy to use across different transport services. The discounted fare matrix, implemented by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), applies to single-journey tickets, stored-value cards, and cashless payments starting March 23. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) are offering free rides to passengers experiencing issues with the new cashless payment system’s pilot run. DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon acknowledged the technical issues, assuring the public that system improvements will roll out within the month. Commuters on the LRT-2 can now pay their fares using contactless payment methods after RCBC, in partnership with Visa, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), and the Department of Transportation (DOTr), officially activated tap-to-pay at station turnstiles.
