It has the components of an upper-tier handset, but with a unique feature that scans your eyes to unlock the device in addition to other tasks it can perform. Just like in movies, you can now scan your eyes and unlock a restricted area -- only in this case it's a smartphone. The Grand S3 uses its 8MP front camera together with an eye-based biometric security developed by EyeVerify to scan both eyes. Apart from unlocking the screen you can use this technology to authorize mobile payments and access secure content. Although eye-scanning will take a bit more time to register than in fingerprint recognition, it is claimed to be safer in terms of security. Announced back in October 2014, the HTC Desire Eye takes its cue from the flagship One series but adopted the Desire line moniker which used to be representative of their mid-range category. However, nothing in the build quality and the hardware specification of the the Desire Eye points to it being a mid-range handset.
