#Facebook Messenger down

As spotted on Downdetector, an independent website for detecting outages of various web services and networks, there have been 3,862 reports of Facebook Messenger's outage as of December 10, 2020, at 7:21 PM. Meta has announced new updates to its Teen Accounts program, expanding safety features for young users across Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Once Messenger.com is shut down, users accessing the site on a computer will be automatically redirected to facebook.com/messages. Users who rely on Messenger without a Facebook account can still access their conversations through the Messenger mobile app. The move effectively consolidates Messenger’s web experience under the main Facebook website, removing the standalone Messenger.com portal and desktop application. The Messenger desktop app is set to be shut down for Windows and Mac users on December 15, 2025. Users will no longer be able to log into the apps and will be redirected to Facebook for Messenger access. With this winding down, Facebook said creators will still have access to monetization tools.
