Following last year's launch of Samsung's Graphics Double Data Rate 6 (GDDR6) DRAM, the company has announced its successor: the GDDR7. The GDDR7 has up to 32Gbps per pin, totaling to 1.5TB per second which is faster than the GDDR's 1.1TB by 40%. Samsung has noted that the GDDR7 is also 20% more power efficient than the GDDR6. “The next-generation graphics DRAM will be brought to market in line with industry demand and we plan on continuing our leadership in the space.” According to Samsung, the GDDR7 will be installed in next-generation systems of their key customers this year to verify and test the DRAM. With this feature, it brings support for more types of personal information and deeper integration with Google Wallet on Android and iOS devices.
