The GDDR7 has up to 32Gbps per pin, totaling to 1.5TB per second which is faster than the GDDR’s 1.1TB by 40%. Samsung has noted that the GDDR7 is also 20% more power efficient than the GDDR6.

“Our GDDR7 DRAM will help elevate user experiences in areas that require outstanding graphics performance, such as workstations, PCs and game consoles, and is expected to expand into future applications such as AI, high-performance computing (HPC) and automotive vehicles,” said Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning Team at Samsung Electronics Yongcheol Bae. “The next-generation graphics DRAM will be brought to market in line with industry demand and we plan on continuing our leadership in the space.”

According to Samsung, the GDDR7 will be installed in next-generation systems of their key customers this year to verify and test the DRAM.
