Globe, in partnership with Huawei, has launched the first commercial 5G fixed wireless internet in SEA in the form of the Globe At Home Air Fiber 5G. The Globe AT Home Air Fiber 5G postpaid offers fiber-like speeds up to 100Mbps and up to 2TB of the data package. Globe AT HOME is giving eligible customers free internet speed boosts of up to 1Gbps along with free WiFi 6 modem upgrades to help improve home connectivity for work, school, and entertainment. “In solidarity with the government’s call for energy conservation, Globe AT HOME is committed to making the remote work and education experience as seamless as possible,” said Abigail Cardino, Vice President and Head of Brand Management for Broadband Business at Globe. PLDT has started offering faster home internet with speeds of up to 300 Mbps under its PLDT Home Fiber Prepaid service. Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala has stepped down as chairman of Globe Telecom after nearly three decades, with Ayala Group veteran Cezar Consing named as his successor. Zobel, widely known as “Jaza,” has been a key figure in Globe’s growth, serving as chairman since 1996 and as a board member since 1989. Despite stepping down from the chairmanship, Zobel will continue to be involved in Globe through Asiacom Philippines Inc., a joint venture between Ayala Corp.
