#globe net income 2016

Numbers are in and according to SEC filings of PLDT and Globe, the two telcos made a combined net income of Php21.5 billion for the first half of 2016, ending June 30, 2016. Biggest loser is PLDT/Smart with a 33% drop in net income for the same period while Globe did a little better at 3% increase compared to the same period as last year. This is the biggest drop in net income for PLDT in a long time. Globe has partnered with Grab to improve its mobile network by collecting real-world data from daily trips across Metro Manila. Eric Tanbauco, Vice President at Globe, said the partnership helps the company see real network performance and use the data to improve services. “These permits complement our aggressive builds and roll-outs as we not only increase our capacity and capability but more importantly, we make connectivity possible and accessible in areas that don't have any access to the internet before,” stated by Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery under Network Technical Group Joel Agustin. Globe has also mentioned its network upgrades and expansion including the aggressive building of cell towers, upgrading existing cell sites to LTE by increasing its frequencies, and fast-tracking of its fiber network in the country.
