Meta and Twitter users won’t be the only ones that have a blue checkmark beside their names. Google has announced that it will start displaying a blue checkmark next to select senders to verify their identity. According to the company, blue checkmarks will automatically appear on emails from companies that have adopted Gmail’s existing Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) feature. With the blue checkmarks beside brand emails, this ensures Gmail users identify emails that are from legitimate companies versus impersonators. When you hover over the blue checkmark next to the sender’s name, you’ll also see a note saying “the sender of this email has verified” together with their domain and logo.
