Google is rolling out a new update to its Clock app for Android that lets users dismiss alarms by swiping on the screen. The feature is part of Google Clock version 8.5, which started rolling out last week through a server-side update. Google says the change adds a small amount of friction, which may help prevent users from stopping alarms too easily while half asleep. The swipe gesture is similar to changes Google made last year in the Phone app, where users also had to swipe to answer or reject incoming calls. Aside from the alarm change, Google Clock 8.5 also updates a slider design to match Material 3 Expressive. There was some sort of mass panic last night when Google was spewing a warning "this site may harm your computer" on all their search results.
