Google has announced that it will shut down its Drive and Photos apps for PCs and Macs, following the unveiling of a new unified application that will handle both data and images. In a blog announcement, both the Photos and Drive apps for both platforms will no longer be supported following the wider rollout of its Backup and Search and File Streams apps for both consumer and enterprise users. Business and Enterprise customers, on the other hand, may head over to Google File Stream which was announced to be more widely available starting today. Google's File Stream functions the same as Backup and Sync, but with added features in tow such as on-demand file streaming and access to team drives. The Google Drive and Photos apps for PCs and Macs will be phased our starting December this year, and will be completely shut down by March 12, 2018.
