Owing its UI to Google's own Material design, it offers a lot of functionality under its hood. Evolve SMS Like Textra, Evolve SMS is also a text messaging application with Google's Material Design in tow. If you like Facebook Messenger's chat heads feature, this is probably the SMS counterpart. Special Mention: Google Messenger While it did not enter our Fast Five, we have to give Google the credit for creating a really fluid messaging app. After tons of  roadmaps that even involved spinning Hangouts into allowing SMS functions, Google Messenger embarked to be a fine craft from the Mountain View giant. There was some sort of mass panic last night when Google was spewing a warning "this site may harm your computer" on all their search results. People search on Google were shocked and confused as if the search engine itself was hacked.
