Google has launched its desktop app for Windows, bringing its AI-powered search experience beyond the browser and directly into the operating system. The app integrates Google’s AI Mode into Windows, allowing users to search the web, files, and apps using natural language without opening a browser. The app opens through a keyboard shortcut, displaying a floating search interface where users can type questions and receive AI-generated answers along with relevant web results. The app is currently available for Windows 10 and newer devices, supports users aged 13 and above, and is limited to English for now. At WWDC 2026, the company confirmed it partnered with Google, using the technologies behind Gemini, to create the next generation of Apple Foundation Models. Rather than relying strictly on its own hardware, Apple is looking to rely on Google's Gemini AI model running on NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell B200 data center graphics chips.
