The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered GrabCar Philippines, MYTAXI.PH, Inc. to stop the operations of GrabBike, the company's motorcycle service. In a letter addressed to GrabCar Phils., MYTAXI.PH, Inc.'s Operations Head, Gines Barot, LTFRB regional director and officer-in-charge Glenn Zaragoza said that GrabCar Philippines is not authorized to offer bikes and motorcycles as mode of public transportation citing safety issues and lack of authorization from the Board and DOTC. The LTFRB also reminded GrabCar PH that their company, MYTAXI.PH, Inc., is accredited to only offer the services of Transportation Network Vehicles (TNVs) using a digital platform technology pursuant to Department Order No. Grab recently posted their official statement on their Facebook page regarding LTFRB's order on accepting new drivers in their company. In their statement, Grab has asked their passengers to bear with them as there is an increase in their bookings since Uber's operations has been suspended from LTFRB's order (see article here.) They also said that they have capped their fare matrix at 1.4x and has regulated the threshold for passenger surges to control the fares.
