Musical.ly is expanding over song videos with a launch of live.ly, a live tide broadcasting platform that will integrate the exisiting musical.ly app. Now the app is moving beyond recorded videos with the integration of live.ly. Since live streaming has become increasingly popular, with the launch of Facebook Live and the continued evolution of Twitter’s Periscope. Musical.ly is hoping that it can capitalize on this trend and be a force in the live video business. Alex Zhu, co-CEO of musical.ly tells TechCrunch that they saw musical.ly being used for some more than music, and he hopes live.ly will give chance to users to correlate with others in real-time. The video social network has already begun rolling out live.ly to select users and will be arriving to its whole user base in the following weeks. Moreover, the company also revealed that both iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini in Purple ship with the latest iOS 14.5, which features the ability to unlock iPhone with Apple Watch while wearing a face mask, an enhanced Apple Podcasts app with a redesigned show and episode pages, and a Search tab, as well as new emoji.
