Almost 6,000 smartphones were reported to be lost or stolen in Metro Manila alone for the past year, according to the latest statistics from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). According to the data we have managed to acquire, 5955 phones have been reported to the government agency as lost or stolen, and have been requested for IMEI blocking. The number of lost and/or stolen phones reported to the NTC's offices nationwide has been seen the ten thousands, and tend to increase up to 23 percent yearly, except in 2011 where reported devices went down six percent from the previous year.
