Proton has unveiled their Lumo AI chatbot, built with privacy as its main feature. Lumo AI can generate code, summarize documents, and write emails. Compared to most AI tools from other tech brands, Proton claims Lumo leverages zero-access encryption. The company also added that Lumo doesn’t use the customer’s data to train its AI models. To elaborate, Lumo doesn’t search the web by default, as Proton disabled this to maximize privacy. The chatbot can also work to analyze uploaded documents, including those from Proton Drive, without retaining data after. Proton is positioning Lumo as a secure alternative to mainstream services like ChatGPT, Gemini, Meta AI, and Copilot. Lumo AI is now available via lumo.proton.me or through iOS and Android apps.
