Maxim has joined the motorcycle taxi market in the Philippines, participating in a pilot project to develop this mode of transportation. The company announced that users can now avail their motorcycle taxi riding services via their mobile app. The Maxim MotoTaxi service offers professionally-trained riders by the company itself via their training center. Maxim has also launched a taxi car service, having secured a TNC license and a car transportation permit. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has recommended the termination of the five-year motorcycle taxi pilot program. LTFRB Chairman and motorcycle taxi Technical Working Group lead (TWG) Teofilo Guadiz said that no new operators should be accredited under the program. In that regard, the motorcycle taxi pilot study was launched in 2019. Since then, Congress has yet to pass regulatory frameworks for motorcycle taxi operations.
