The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has just announced that President Duterte has awarded Mislatel with a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN). A CPCN refers to an authorization grant that allows a qualified applicant, in this case, Mislatel, to legally operate and/or provide public services within the Philippines. Back in June 2019, Mislatel announced that it planned to operate by July 2019 and that it had signed a share purchase agreement in an effort to obtain a (CPCN) from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). DICT and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)'s awarding of the CPCN officially allows Mislatel to operate as the third telco in the country.
