Google appears to be renaming its Android file-sharing service "Nearby Share" to "Quick Share," according to reports from prominent users on X. Renaming Nearby Share to Quick Share without merging the services would leave Samsung devices with two "Quick Share" options—an unnecessary source of confusion for users already unfamiliar with the differences. Furthermore, Mishaal Rahman mentioned received a notification card stating, "Nearby Share is now Quick Share: Look for the new name and icon to share with nearby devices.” Despite the speculations, Google has yet to officially announce any changes to Nearby Share or potential partnership with Samsung. Google's decision to rename Nearby Share raises both possibilities and concerns. Google has released their application called Nearby Share for beta back in March. Google's Nearby Share allows users to share files through their phones, tablets, Chromebooks and more. The company has now expanded to support their Windows PCs to share with nearby Android devices. This lets users to share files without the need of a cable or cord.
