#No App Video Calls

Smart Communications, the mobile arm of PLDT, has rolled out a new feature that lets its users make video calls directly from their phones without the need for apps like Messenger, Zoom, or WhatsApp. If you’re a Smart or TNT subscriber with an unlimited call package, you can now place high-quality video calls and the cost will already be covered by your voice subscription. While many Filipinos already rely on popular apps for video calls, Smart said that ViLTE provides a better and more stable experience. Unlike app-based calls, ViLTE is more battery-friendly and ensures clearer connections even in crowded places. This expansion is meant to give customers smoother and faster services for video calls, streaming, and even mobile gaming. WhatsApp has announced several new calling features, headlined by the addition of audio and video calling on WhatsApp Web, allowing users to make and receive calls directly from their browser without installing the desktop application. The new web calling feature supports both one-on-one and group calls, making it easier for users on shared computers, work laptops, or devices that don't allow app installations to join conversations. Like calls on other platforms, WhatsApp says web calls are end-to-end encrypted, with no time limits or additional costs.
