It looks like Smart is banking on NFC to be the next must-have on our mobile phones. They're now offering the Nokia C7 NFC model free on their All-In Plan 1800, plus a little taste of NFC. The Nokia C7 NFC is among the very few handsets locally available that incorporates Near Field Communication into the device (along with the BlackBerry Bold 9900). The previous, non-NFC variant has been around for some time but the NFC-capable handset has only arrived recently (correction: NFC was enabled in all Nokia C7 via a software upgrade). With a Nokia C7 smartphone, Smart subscribers can now inquire about their prepaid balance or download mobile content such as news, music, and games using specially-marked posters in selected Smart Wireless Centers and Smart Stores nationwide. The Nokia E51 first came out in September last year, it already got my attention. The Nokia E51 is a business/productivity phone so expect good connectivity options -- WiFi and 3.5G or HSDPA (3.6MBps). For a retail price of Php12,300, this unit is a great buy -- probably the cheapest full-featured business phone that went out of Nokia's doors.
