Nokia might be working on a new licensing deal with another smartphone manufacturer following their separation from HMD Global. The first signs of unease between companies showed last year when Nokia-branded phones were unlisted from HMD’s official website. Initially, HMD and Nokia devices were to co-exist, but now it appears as both companies are taking different directions. Nokia has previously licensed their brand across multiple categories. For now, we’ll have to wait until the licensing agreement between HMD Global and Nokia expires in 2026. A report alleges that Nokia has extended their partnership with HMD ‘by about another three years’. For reference, the original expiration deal of Nokia and HMD Global’s partnership was set for 2026. Earlier this year, HMD stopped making Nokia-branded smartphones and had them unlisted on their website.
