Now Corporation has officially introduced NOW Telecom, a subsidiary aiming to bring 4G LTE to both businesses and residential homes. The setup is similar to earlier Globe/Smart internet services where outdoor antennas are required to establish an internet connection for fixed wireless users and will be given a 0979 prefix mobile number. NOW Telecom's 4G LTE service will start next month in select Metro Manila areas including Makati, Manila, Pasay, Pasig, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Quezon City and BGC in Taguig. Quite a number of users have already been using their new uMobile SIMs too (7.19%) while fledgling Sun Cellular 3G is still down there. uMobile on the other hand, though an autonomous telco is still considered a Smart/PLDT property and their free ad-supported 3G services will certainly bump up their total numbers.
