In a report by Reuters, ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, said that its video games unit Nuverse has agreed to acquire Moonton Technology. “Through cross-team collaboration and drawing on lessons and insights from its own rapid growth, Moonton provides the strategic support needed to accelerate Nuverse’s global gaming offerings,” ByteDance said in a statement. The report also cited an internal memo from Yuan Jing, CEO of Moonton, saying that the company would operate independently from ByteDance after the acquisition. Moonton has announced that its first animated TV series, The Legends of Dawn: The Sacred Stone, will premier in the Philippines via ABS-CBN. The upcoming animated TV series is based on Moonton's hit mobile game, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Shanghai Moonton Technology co, ltd (Moonton), the developer of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), has recently clashed with Riot Games, the company under one of the most popular game "League of Legends", with Riot suing MLBB for copyright infringement. Riot said that Moonton have infringed their copyrights and trademarks including: Identical Battlefield, Exact appearance of various objects, monsters and non-player character, copied logos and banners.
