NVIDIA is set to invest up to USD 100 billion in OpenAI while providing the company with data center chips. The deal sees NVIDIA delivering chips by late 2026, structured as two transactions. OpenAI will purchase chips directly from NVIDIA, while NVIDIA invests in OpenAI for non-controlling shares. The first stage involves NVIDIA making a USD 10 billion investment in OpenAI. It’s set to begin once both companies reach a definitive agreement for OpenAI to purchase NVIDIA’s chips. This follows the companies’ unveiling of a letter of intent to deploy at least 10GW of NVIDIA chips for OpenAI’s infrastructure. With NVIDIA’s help, they’ll have access to a great deal of graphics processing units (GPUs), allowing AI products to cater to user queries.
